The reason why Kid Cudi called Kanye West a “f**kin’ dinosaur”
Kid Cudi and Kanye West have experienced an on-and-off relationship over the years, both as friends and collaborators. Years ago, bridges were burnt so much that Cudi claimed they weren’t even friends anymore.
In 2022, Ye revealed that Cudi had been cut from his Donda 2 album because he was friends with Pete Davidson, who was dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian at the time. “Just so everyone knows, Cudi will not be on Donda because he’s friends with you know who,” he wrote on social media. “We all speak in Billie language now.”
Not happy with his comments, Cudi claimed that Kanye’s albums wouldn’t have the same quality if it wasn’t for him, before ending their friendship altogether. “Too bad I don’t wanna be on ur album u fuckin dinosaur hahaha,” he said. “Everyone knows I’ve been the best thing about ur albums since I met you … We talked weeks ago about this. You’re whack for flipping the script and posting this lie just for a look on the internet. You ain’t no friend. BYE.”
Kanye elaborated on his issues with Cudi, claiming that he was once someone he could confide in, but wasn’t there when he needed him most. “I just wanted my friend to have my back,” he said. “The knife just goes in deeper. I’m very community oriented I love my friends I love my family. The reason I asked Cudi to at the least speak to Skete is because for years Cudi always made it seem like it was me and him against everyone. Now that I’m fighting for my family, he not by my side.”
He added, “This is bigger than music. I would have never asked for the loyalty if it was never offered and I found a cool picture ’cause I love Cudi and always will. But Donda 2 is about running back in that burning house. I respect not everyone gonna be ready for the smoke.”
When it was revealed that they would be collaborating on the song ‘Rock N Roll’ from Pusha T’s It’s Almost Dry album, Cudi doubled down on his problems with Kanye, stating that it would be the last time they worked together.
“Hey! So I know some of you heard about the song I got w Pusha,” he said. “I did this song a year ago when I was still cool w Kanye. I am not cool w that man. He’s not my friend and I only cleared the song for Pusha cuz thats my guy. This is the last song u will hear me on w Kanye.”
However, Cudi and Kanye later made up and collaborated on ‘Gun to My Head’, which appeared on the deluxe version of Ye’s Vultures 2 album with Ty Dolla $ign.
