Kanye West shares new update on ‘Vultures 2’

While many doubted the album would ever materialise, Kanye West’s second album in his Vultures trilogy has been released as the artist announced he’d be updating Vultures 2 in real-time, changing and fixing songs as time goes on.

The chaotic rollout of Vultures 2 is utterly expected, given the carnage that has surrounded the whole trilogy and West’s recent career at large. The first album in the series was set for release on January 12th, 2024, but then it went through a series of date changes and delays, leaving fans in the dark. Even when it did finally arrive on February 10th, 2024, it didn’t land on Spotify as the rollout didn’t run smoothly.

Originally, Vultures 2 and Vultures 3 were supposed to be released on March 8th and April 5th, 2024, respectively. However, since the release of the first record, there had been no word on the release. In fact, there was the suggestion that perhaps West was retiring from making music as he told Rich The Kid, “I am retiring from professional music. Not sure what else to do.”

However, despite all the trials and tribulations, Vultures 2 has arrived but, in turn Kanye West fashion, is not exactly that simple. “VULTURES 2 AVAILABLE ON ALL DSPS,” a statement reads from West reads, adding, “UPDATED SONGS WILL BE PUBLISHED IN REAL TIME.”

It seems that even after the album has been uploaded to streaming platforms, West will be continuing to make changes and edits to the album, updating the tracks sporadically as and when he feels like it. For fans listening to the album, the prospect of it constantly changing is pretty confusing. “So we need to keep listening to know if they are fixed?” one X user said.

However, another fan quickly pointed out that the same was said for Vultures 1. “They said this for Vultures 1, and I didn’t notice any big changes,” they wrote. But, the general feeling amongst fans is that this new release feels unfinished or not up to scratch, so is actually in need of further changes and intervention. They continued, “Vultures 2 quite literally has to have entire songs reproduced and remixed,” adding, “There’s no saving that album.”

At 16 tracks long, Vultures 2 is a lengthy undertaking in its original form, let alone being asked to repeatedly re-listen to the record to spot any possible edits that West might have made. But as the second instalment drops, the focus now shifts to the possibility of the third album, with no word yet as to when the series of collaborations with Ty Dolla Sign might be completed.
