Romanian police place Wiz Khalifa on wanted list
Wiz Khalifa has been placed on a wanted list by Romanian police.
The Pittsburgh rapper was sentenced to nine months in prison in December on drug possession charges.
Following the verdict, police in Romania have added the musician to a wanted persons list. According to Digi24, the website lists the reason as “warrant for the execution of a prison sentence for narcotics offences.”
The description reads, “Sentenced to nine months in prison for committing the crime of possession of dangerous drugs, without the right for personal consumption.”
Wiz was arrested in July 2024 after smoking weed on stage at Beach, Please! Festival in Costinesti, Romania.
In October 2024, he was charged with illegal drug possession after allegedly being found with 18.53 grams of cannabis and “a cigarette that contained cannabis.” He appealed his sentence with the Constanta Tribunal on January 21st, but he was rejected in February.
Following the incident in 2024, Wiz apologised for smoking weed in Romania and stated he wouldn’t do it again.
“Last night’s show was amazing,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time.”
Romania’s strict cannabis laws make it illegal for recreational and medical use, with weed carrying imprisonment of up to six months to three years.
Wiz has released several new projects this year, including Girls Love Horses, Khaotic, Roofless Records for Drop Tops with Curren$y, and the soundtrack for Moses the Black. His latest single, ‘Girl Next Door’ with Machine Gun Kelly, dropped earlier this month.
