Remembering the vicious brawl between Ray J and Fabolous: “Don’t disrespect me”
Ray J has recently been speaking out about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and has caused quite a stir doing so. Many other celebrities have called out the vocalist. Still, irrespective of this, he has continued to make the rounds on media outlets, speaking about Combs and threatening to “expose” other stars.
That said, this isn’t the first time Ray J has caused problems and caused a stir publicly. Some years ago, the Raydiation creator found himself in a fight with Brooklyn emcee Fabolous. The tension between the two reportedly began when the ‘Baby’ rapper mocked Ray J’s physical appearance on the HBO series 24/7.
The series showcased the build-up to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s boxing match with Victor Ortiz. One scene in the documentary shows Ray J playing the piano in Mayweather’s living room, singing his hit song ‘One Wish’. However, shortly after, Fabolous ridiculed Ray J on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “Floyd saying we havin’ a concert in my living room & the camera cuts to Ray J singing ‘One Wish’ on the piano had me in tears!” This angered Ray J.
As such, when the two came face to face at the Palms Las Vegas casino, it was ugly, and it got physical very quickly. Following this, Ray J was detained by Las Vegas police. At the time, it was reported that the singer punched Fabolous and ended up handcuffed shortly after. Fabolous was also escorted from the premises.
A day later, the This Ain’t A Game creator called New York radio station Power 105 to detail the fight on The Breakfast Club, ranting, “It’s like, don’t disrespect me and Floyd like that, so when I [saw] him I was with Floyd and 50 [Cent] and [Fabolous] tried to say, ‘Don’t touch me’, and I touched that n*gga! I got detained… I got kicked out of the motherf**king Palms hotel!”
The vocalist insisted that Fab was fearful of him and called law enforcement to the scene, ranting, “I swear to God he runnin’ from me right now. I had a hundred fools outside of Moon [nightclub]. He never left the club. He was scared up in there. He tried to call the police.”
Still, Ray J didn’t just address Fabolous, but also called his entire entourage a bunch of “punk faggots.”Furthermore, he spoke about what happens when you disrespect him, stating, “When you want to disrespect me and the Money Team, and we got seven Rolls-Royces outside, and we just made 350 racks on the [fight]… Don’t disrespect me. I’ma smack you up again, fool.”
He also alleged that Fabolous suffered a serious facial injury as a result of their altercation. “All I’m sayin’ is if you got Fab’s number, tell that ni**a to send a picture of his face right now.”
However, they are now on really good terms according to Ray J and during a recent interview with Complex he explained, “Of course. Fab knows I was trippin’ that night. He knows I wasn’t right. He knows somebody slipped something in my drink… I’m just playin’. Something happened, I don’t know, it was Vegas… I was just turnt up, we was in Vegas.” He added, “Having too much fun and then tweaking out, but Fab know what’s up and we’ve talked… We good, it was just a crazy weekend.”
