Trey Songz settles $20 million sexual assault lawsuit over nightclub incident

Trey Songz has settled a sexual assault lawsuit relating to an alleged incident that took place on New Year’s Eve in 2018. The singer was accused of non-consensually penetrating a woman with his fingers while dancing at E11even Miami, and was sued for $20 million.

Jauhara Jeffries hit Songz with assault and battery claims, but the ‘Bottoms Up’ artist denied that the alleged assault ever happened.

A trial was set to begin in October, but the litigation will end following a confidential settlement between Songz, Jeffries, and E11even.

Judge Antonio Arzola wrote, “This court has been advised that the matter has been settled as to all parties and therefore, it is hereby ordered and adjudged that this case is dismissed. The court reserves jurisdiction to enforce the settlement and to enter orders necessary to this enforcement.”

In a statement to Billboard, Jeffries’ lawyer, Ariel Mitchell, said, “I can only comment that the matter has been resolved.”

E11even Miami were accused of negligently serving alcohol to Songz despite the singer having a public history of substance abuse.

In 2021, an E11even spokesperson said, “We have reviewed the complaint with our counsel and it is clear that neither E11even nor its employees were involved in the incident which is alleged to have happened approximately four years ago … E11even does not condone the actions alleged in any manner.”

Songz previously accused Jeffries of witness tampering. In response, Jeffries called the allegations “a desperate attempt to shift the narrative from his abhorrent and egregious behaviour” and “dangerously close to the line of a defamation lawsuit.”

She continued, “This is nothing more than bullying and an attempt to silence counsel and the many victims who have been assaulted by Defendant Songz and will be vigorously defended in court. I will further be exonerated as I was when this allegation was previously made by Defendant Songz’s prior attorney.”
