Travis Scott sued over alleged security guard assault

Travis Scott has been hit with a lawsuit by a man who alleges that his security guard assaulted him and is seeking damages. However, the rapper’s team have hit back against his claims.

The man, named Omar Muhanna, says he was outside a venue in New York City on August 17th, 2024, when one of Scott’s security guards made physical contact with him. Scott performed at Fanatics Fest at the Javits Center in Manhattan that day, but the man claims the assault happened several roads away.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Scott has been sued over the incident, with Muhanna accusing the guard of assault and battery without doing anything to provoke the attack. He claims the incident has resulted in severe and permanent injuries and that the security guard has a “propensity for the type of behaviour.”

A representative for Scott says the rapper was inside a restaurant at the time and wasn’t present when the alleged incident happened, while calling the lawsuit “frivolous.” The suit doesn’t accuse Scott of any wrongdoing, but he’s named in the lawsuit because he employed the security guard in the dispute.

Scott was arrested in Paris in August after allegedly getting into a fight with his bodyguard. The rapper allegedly attacked a security guard at the George V Hotel after he tried to break up the incident between them. French media claimed Scott was drunk at the time.

Prosecutors said in a statement, “I can confirm that on August 9th, 2024, police officers were called to the George V hotel and arrested the rapper nicknamed Travis Scott for assaulting a security guard. The security guard had intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard. The Paris public prosecutor’s office has referred the case to the 1st district of the judicial police.

Scott released his last album, Utopia, in July 2023. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 496,000 units in its first week and featured Drake, Playboi Carti, Beyonce, 21 Savage, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Kid Cudi, SZA, Future, and others. In December, he promised new music was “on the way.”
