Travis Scott promises new music is “on the way”

Travis Scott has revealed that new music is coming soon following the conclusion of his Circus Maximus Tour. The Houston rapper is gearing up to share new material for the first time since Utopia was released in July 2023, which fans are highly anticipating.

Scott attended Art Basel in Miami over the weekend. While signing autographs for fans, one told Scott that he “loved” him and questioned when he was going to release new music that was played on tour. He replied, “It’s on the way. Like, really on the way.”

In September, Scott announced he was in “album mode” and had been creating new songs the whole time he was on tour. “I’m gonna be back in New York. I’m back in album mode,” he told Cultured Magazine. “I’ve been working on music and shit every day on tour. When I’m doing the stadiums, because they’re sold out, I can see the music for what it is. I’m fucking amped.”

Back in January, a fan told Scott on X (formerly Twitter), “Imagine an album where each song is the city it was made in on the tour.” In response to the concept, he said, “R u in my brain or what.”

Scott is returning to Coachella for a “Cactus Jack desert takeover” next year; he’s set to perform on both weekends and “will debut an entirely new era of music to the world.” The news was announced shortly after Scott finished his Circus Maximus Tour, which ran between October 2023 and October 2024 with shows across North America, South America, Europe and Oceania.

Utopia, which served as his fourth studio album, came with features from Drake, Playboi Carti, Beyoncé, 21 Savage, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Kid Cudi, SZA, Future and many others. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with 496,000 units in its first week. Initially, Scott had plans to make the project a Broadway play.

“I wanted the album to be a play,” he told GQ. “I was trying to take Broadway — because the thing about Broadway theatres, they’re kind of small — I was trying to bring the idea of Broadway to bigger venues. Like, either, like, plays in stadiums or plays in arenas, but still make it feel like a Broadway bill.”

He continued, “I love Jeremy O. Harris. He’s amazing. We were exploring all these different ideas. I met with him. I met with a couple of different people. We just talked about the idea of it happening. I was still trying to figure it out.”
