Travis Scott arrested in Paris following altercation with bodyguard at hotel
According to French prosecutors, rapper Travis Scott has been arrested at a luxury hotel in Paris following a fight with his bodyguard.
This summer, the hip-hop star has been touring Europe, which included a sold-out date at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London last month. The run of dates across the continent has included recent dates in Greece, Spain, Germany, Italy, Romania, and the Czech Republic. His most recent appearance was in Marbella on August 5th.
With a month free in his schedule before he’s set to perform again, Scott seemingly chose to extend his stay in Europe, but has been taken into custody on August 9th after local police in Paris were called to the George V hotel following an alert to an altercation.
In a statement, the Paris prosecutor’s office told the French publication, Valeurs, “The police were called to the George V hotel to arrest the rapper for assaulting a security guard. The latter had himself intervened to separate the rapper from his bodyguard.”
According to Paris based journalist Peter Allen, Scott has been taken into custody but his “condition did not initially allow him to be questioned” by authorities.
The Mirror claim that another source told Allen: “The suspect was drunk and had been fighting with another man – possibly a receptionist in the hotel. He was not in the right condition to be questioned straight away, so was put in a cell where he is still sobering up.”
At this stage, Scott is yet to comment on the arrest, and no further details have emerged over whether the rapper has been charged by French police.
In June, Scott was arrested in Miami on charges of disorderly intoxication and trespassing after being forced off a private boat.
According to the police report, Scott “became irate, screaming profanities, left and returned to disturb some more”. The Astroworld rapper was made to pay a $650 bond, $500 of which was for trespassing on the private yacht and the other $150 was due to disorderly intoxication.
