Travis Scott returns following Astroworld at Billboard Music Awards 2022

Travis Scott returned to public life for the first time since the Astroworld tragedy when he appeared at the Billboard Music Awards 2022.

In November, a crowd crush at the Houston festival killed ten fans and injured hundreds. Since then, Scott had only made one performance since the incident, which was when he performed at the Miami nightclub E11even during the F1 Grand Prix weekend.

In his set, Scott played for around 45 minutes and aired hits such as ‘Goosebumps’ and ‘Sicko Mode’. Additionally, he was joined by Migos’ Quavo for their single, ‘Dubai Shit’. Meanwhile, at the BBMA’s, Scott took to the stage to play ‘Mafia’ and his James Blake collaboration ‘Lost Forever’.

Interestingly, Diddy revealed when was critical in convincing the ceremony to let Scott play. “I made a request. I made a demand. I said, ‘My brother Travis Scott has to perform,” he said. “And NBC said yes.”

He continued: “Travis went through a tragedy; Morgan [used the N-word] while talking to his boy. People make mistakes. Now we’re moving on with love and respect for everybody that was hurt or affected. It’s time to forgive.

“To have Morgan and Travis be able to come back and touch the stage again with the mindset of getting a second chance at life. Everybody in the room is getting a second chance at life, you know, because we’re back outside with no masks on. We need love and I’m excited about celebrating that.”
