Travis Scott once picked his favourite song from 'Astroworld'

Travis Scott is a one-of-a-kind artist and is renowned for high-quality bodies of work. The Houston emcee is a household name in hip-hop and is currently one of the genre’s most influential artists.

Following the release of his 2015 project Rodeo and 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, Scott released one of his most legendary and critically acclaimed albums, Astroworld.

Astroworld is indisputably Scott’s best album. Released in 2018, there was a lot of anticipation ahead of the project’s release. The body of work’s second single, ‘SICKO MODE’ featuring Drake, was so popular upon release in 2020 that the song was certified Diamond by the RIAA. The track has accumulated over 1billion streams on the popular streaming service Spotify, and the album is four times platinum.

Astroworld was a chart-topping album, and ‘SICKO MODE’, as a Diamond-certified single with over 1billion streams, is one of the highest-selling singles of recent times. Furthermore, the project has its own festival, with the power to draw hundreds of thousands.

On November 5th 2021, at NRG Park, Webster hosted his Astroworld Festival. However, the excitement and rowdiness of the attendees led to a fatal crowd crush that caused many to be hospitalised. The tragic incident sparked a lot of controversy, and many pinned the crush on the rapper.

The emcee (real name Jacques Webster) took a long hiatus after the incident and didn’t reappear until the end of 2023 when he sold out shows at London’s O2 Arena in the lead-up to his UTOPIA project.

During an episode of his NFR podcast, Anthony D’aliesio unveiled which song Scott likes most from his third studio album, stating, “I’m gonna tell you what rappers choose as their favourite songs from their own albums, and I want you to tell me if you agree with them. Travis Scott says ‘Astrothunder’ is the best song from Astroworld. I mean there are better songs. ‘Stop Trying To Be God’ is up there for me, but ‘Astrothunder’ is one of the most underrated songs in his catalogue.”
