Tony Buzbee claims to have received 300 allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
In a recent interview, legal expert Tony Buzbee claimed the approximate number of civil claims he has against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, telling a news outlet it “is probably in the 300 range.”
Buzbee has not just been in the news surrounding Combs, but in the past week, has been at the centre of the underage rape allegation surrounding Jay-Z after amending a legal document to include his government name, Shawn Carter.
The figure, who is well-known in legal circles, has already filed 20 lawsuits from men and women seeking damages after being sexually assaulted in some form by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and while speaking to the BBC, he made the shocking revelation that since he set up his 1-800 hotline in October, he has received about 3,000 calls.
Although he has about 300 potential cases waiting, Buzbee did admit that due to his team’s thorough vetting practices and assessments, he will most likely only take “about 100 or 150” to court. The Texan also admitted that the statute of limitations will also affect the number of claims that are valid in 2024.
Although Buzbee sees himself as someone who can deliver justice, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ team have alleged that the sheer number of cases Buzbee plans on filing has resulted in a “reckless media circus.” Furthermore, they stated that Buzbee’s creation of a toll-free phone number for tip-offs was a “clear attempt to garner publicity.”
Jay-Z, who has also been named in one of Buzbee’s lawsuits, has alleged that Buzbee was asking for “extortionate” amounts and was using a lawsuit to “blackmail” him. Furthermore, sharing a similar sentiment to Combs’ team, Hot97’s Ebro Darden also feels that the overwhelming number of cases (over 100) has turned acts of sexual assault into “a clown show.”
Although Buzbee is now at the centre of this firestorm with an alleged“300 claims against Combs, his co-counsel Andrew Van Arsdale was the individual initially receiving calls about Combs. After agreeing to help, Buzbee asked potential victims to come forward.
Buzbee recently revealed to the BBC that he still gets calls, stating, “We still get [calls] every single day. I think that the potential [number of] cases is probably in the 300 range, but I think realistically, it’ll ultimately be about 100 to 150.” The alleged victims include a roughly equal number of men and women whose accusations span 20 years.
