Ebro Darden says Sean ‘Diddy’ Comes cases have led to “a clown show”
Following Jay-Z’s recent addition to a lawsuit involving Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, many prominent figures in hip-hop have spoken out about the direction of the culture within the court of public opinion. Most recently, Hot97 radio host Ebro Darden took to the airwaves to address Combs and lawyer Tony Buzbee.
Jay-Z’s name entered a lawsuit on December 8th after an amendment was made to a filing. The Brooklyn icon and rap billionaire has now been accused of raping a 13-year-old at a VMAs afterparty hosted by Combs in 2000.
Darden has revealed that he is fed up with Buzbee’s torrent of civil lawsuits. Furthermore, he admitted that he is tired of fans tearing down Jay-Z and getting wrapped up in pointless conspiracy theories before anything has been proven in a court of law.
Opening up on the Hot97 show Ebro In The Morning, Darden explained, “My biggest problem in all of this is the clown show that sexual assaults have become. I don’t know why so many people want to see Jay-Z get torn down. It’s a nature of our culture that we aren’t wanting to examine. It’s disgusting.”
The host added, “People love a tear-down of somebody successful. Maybe you don’t like all his business dealings. Some people are upset with their own lives, and they see somebody else seemingly having a phenomenal run at life, and they don’t wanna see it. I would say in all this, it still takes me back to how upsetting it is that sexual assault is a game.”
Ebro isn’t the only person who has become tired of the lawsuits and is beginning to question the attorney behind them. Following the break of the news, radio host Charlamagne Tha God spoke on The Breakfast Club about how barrages of lawsuits like this are sometimes for publicity, explaining, “You hear the initial accusation, but you don’t ever see when the case gets dropped,” he said.
“You don’t see when the case actually gets dismissed. I’m telling you, all of this stuff is a gift. It’s complete foolishness,” he added.
After social media began to see an influx of people commenting on Jay-Z, Philadelphia lyricist Meek Mill came out to defend Jay-Z and boldly claimed that American media and social media users actively push false narratives for profit.
Jay-Z responded to the lawsuit and its allegations by releasing a statement that read: “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!! Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree? These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were the case.”
Jay then lashed out at Buzbee, calling the allegations “idiotic.” He also accused the attorney of unprofessional behaviour.
The ‘Marcy Me’ rhymer plans to fight the case in court and has, so far, only asked that the court remove Jane Doe’s anonymity.
