Snoop Dogg is one of the greatest rappers of all time. The Long Beach legend has one of the best hip-hop catalogues in history, boasting classic albums such as Doggystyle, Tha Dogfather, Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told and No Limit Top Dogg while providing hits such as ‘Gin and Juice’, ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’, ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Signs’, and many classics alongside Dr Dre.
Outside of rapping, Snoop’s name has always been synonymous with weed. More often than not, the West Coast rapper has a joint in his hand and was an advocate for legalising marijuana long before it became a thing across the US.
But out of all the smoking sessions he’s ever had, what’s the highest he’s ever been? During an appearance on the Let’s Go! podcast, Snoop revealed getting high with country legend Willie Nelson was his most stoned memory.
“With Willie fucking Nelson,” he said. “We was in Amsterdam on 4/20 and he was doing a concert out there. He performed on the 19th and I performed on the 20th. So we went back to his hotel room and we was playing dominoes. Willie had a vape, a joint, I had a blunt and he had a pipe.
“So me and him were playing dominoes one-on-one. He whooping my ass, and I’m just getting higher and higher and higher. And he just keep passing it to me, and I’m like, ‘This old motherfucker’s out-smoking me,’ and I’m trying to stop but I can’t ’cause I don’t wanna show no signs of weakness.”
Snoop and Nelson had the munchies, so they headed to KFC, resulting in a funny moment where they tried to eat the same chicken piece. “15 minutes into the session, I say, ‘Willie, let’s get something to eat, man,’” he recalled. “And we go to Kentucky Fried Chicken, right, so we in the back of the van and when they bring the chicken from the drive-thru, they give it to us and me and Willie put our hands in the bucket simultaneously. And we grab the same piece of chicken. And I look at him and say, ‘It’s yours, cuz.’”
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Snoop once revealed his Mount Rushmore of pot smokers. “I would put Bob Marley, Cheech and Chong — they were the first faces on the mountain. They’re the ones who showed us what the mountain was,” he said. “Willie Nelson is definitely on there. And by the way, Willie Nelson is the only person who’s ever out-smoked Snoop Dogg. I had to hit the timeout button.”
Despite being a cannabis connoisseur, Snoop has admitted that he’s cut back on his intake. After becoming a grandfather, he’s taking precautions with his health. “Being a grandfather has changed me in multiple ways,” he told the Daily Mail. “The main way is being concerned with how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with, because I want to see my grandkids grow old.”
He added, “The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I intaking. Am I doing extracurricular or am I just doing what I’m supposed to be doing?”
