Tay-K requests pause in San Antonio shooting conviction appeal
Tay-K has asked to pause the appeal of his shooting conviction.
The rapper from Arlington, Texas, is currently serving 80 years in prison on two counts of murder and multiple counts of aggravated robbery.
In 2025, he was convicted of killing Mark Saldivar in San Antonio while on the run from authorities in 2017.
According to Complex, he’s asking to delay the appeal so his legal team can obtain details on the legality of an old search warrant.
His lawyers have raised an issue with a warrant for an iPhone that police officers found in a car, which they believe was associated with the murder.
Tay-K’s motion to suppress the search result was denied, but he’s now asking the court to issue “findings of fact and conclusions of law.”
The motion read, “The need for detailed findings of fact and conclusions of law is essential to this case. Although the trial court made some off-hand comments about the existence of probable cause, Counsel respectfully submits these remarks are insufficient for full and fair appellate review of McIntyre’s suppression claims.”
They added, “Without concise, written findings of fact and conclusions of law, it is impossible to adequately brief the suppression issues raised by this appeal.”
Tay-K is currently behind bars at the John B Connally Unit in Karnes County, Texas. Despite his 80-year sentence, he recently claimed he was coming home and released two new songs, ‘Erupt’ and ‘Everywhere I Go’.
With 1.3 million Instagram followers, the 26-year-old is best known for his 2017 single ‘The Race’, which reached number 44 on the Hot 100 and has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
