Snoop Dogg launches new breakfast cereal

Snoop Dogg has announced the launch of his new breakfast cereal, ‘Snoop Loopz’. The news was announced by fellow rapper Master P over the weekend as he stated that the gluten-free cereal promises “more corn, more flavor and more marshmallows” and features an anthropomorphised blue dog on its multicoloured box reminiscent of Froot Loops.

“The best tasting cereal in the game,” Master P wrote in the caption of the Instagram announcement, “[Snoop Dogg], we’re taking over grocery stores”.

The new cereal line is to be released under Broadus Foods, a company founded by Snoop Dogg, whose birth name is Calvin Broadus. Elsewhere, the company sells a variety of Snoop-branded breakfast foods, including oats, pancake mix and syrup.

According to the new Snoop Loopz website, a portion of the profits from cereal sales will be donated to various charities, including those for homeless people. “The more we make, the more we give”, Master P wrote regarding the proceeds. An official release date for the cereal has yet to be announced.

Earlier this year, Snoop released a new wine in a special collaboration with Martha Stewart under the 19 Crimes brand, adding to the Australian company’s range of popular wines inspired by prisoners sent from Britain to the Land Down Under in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Master P has been a prominent figure in the food industry for a while and owns a selection of energy drinks, ramen noodles and cereals under his Uncle P’s food brand.

Snoop joins a swathe of rappers who seem to have found financial gain in the food market in recent years. In May, The Kid Laroi and Kanye West collaborated with McDonald’s, producing a speciality food order and reimagined burger packaging for the fast food company. Last year, Eminem also opened his Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant in Detroit.
