Snoop Dogg explains how he was inspired by Michael Jackson biopic
Snoop Dogg has revealed that he was left inspired after watching the new Michael Jackson biopic.
Michael, starring Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop, was released in April and has grossed $789.2 million at the box office.
During a recent appearance on Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Snoop shared his thoughts on the film and how it impacted him.
“When I seen the Michael Jackson movie, that was inspiring,” he said. “Very inspiring, because it was great storytelling. The acting, the believability, and the nephew becoming Mike. Just, performances. All of that shit. It just was exciting to see. It put a spark in me.”
Snoop has a biopic of his own in the works, starring Jonathan Daviss as himself. Speaking on ideas being sparked, he said, “It gets you into a mode of storytelling. You look at the storytelling, you look at the characters, and you look at how much you know, and how much you didn’t know.”
The Long Beach rapper was then asked if he thinks it will be strange to watch a film about his life.
“I mean, I never looked at my highlights, so I don’t really know what my life was,” he said. “I’m living life. So, if I see something, I hear it, I’m amused by it. Because it’s like, ‘Damn. I did that? That was me?’ ‘Cause I don’t watch me. I’m too busy doing me.”
The Snoop biopic is set to be directed by Craig Brewer, who previously directed Hustle and Flow and Coming 2 America, for Universal Pictures.
It’s set to show Snoop’s evolution from adolescence to adulthood, going into detail about his career and personal relationships.
