Ski Mask The Slump God is sick of waking up with hangovers. The 28-year-old Florida rapper went most of his life struggling the day after drinking alcohol, being unable to go about his plans due to feeling ghostly. That’s until he discovered Pedialyte, the electrolyte drink that claims to promote rehydration and electrolyte replacement in ill children.

Sitting down for an interview with GQ, The Slump God was asked to name the 10 things he can’t live without. He listed a chain, durag, hat and Lunchables as some of his items, but the most helpful pick was his new-found love of Pedialyte.

“Bow! Get a close up on that motherfucking Pedialyte,” he said in 2021. “You gotta get the nutrition facts on there, G. I go out, I drink, I’ll be waking up feeling like I got beat up by a poltergeist or something, like a ghost or some shit.

“When I drink this, I wake up feeling good, my muscles are relaxed, you know what I mean? I can go on about my day after a long night of drinking, so Pedialyte, important, important. I thought it was just for babies, too. And it’s crazy, I just got put on to Pedialyte at least last year, you know what I mean?”

He couldn’t believe how long it took for him to be put on to the drink, claiming it’s superior to Gatorade. “What’s crazy is I was like, ‘What, am I stupid? I coulda been doing this,'” he said. “I used to be drinking Gatorades and stuff like that. Hot, warm Gatorades, but this is definitely better. Definitely better to replace those electrolytes, get you a Pedialyte. You feel me?”

Pedialyte’s company website claims the drink “has three key electrolytes for hydration—sodium, chloride, and potassium. When your body loses enough of these electrolytes along with fluids, you become dehydrated. Unlike water and sports drinks, Pedialyte has an optimal balance of sugar and sodium to help replenish fluids and electrolytes more effectively.”

They add, “Whether you have the flu or a stomach bug, Pedialyte helps you hydrate during recovery. Feel better fast with advanced hydration for the whole family. According to The Independent, the British equivalent of Pedialyte is Dioralyte, which is made to replace essential body water and salts in treating acute diarrhoea.

The Slump God isn’t the only rapper to praise the drink. In February 2024, Atlanta artist Bktherula was asked what requests she has for her tour rider. “Pedialyte and oysters,” she told Interview Magazine. “A little buzz before I go on stage.” Between them both, that’s a strong co-sign for the brand.

Ski Mask released his latest album, 11th Dimension, in June 2024 through Republic Records. It debuted at number 55 on the Billboard 200 chart, serving as his first album in five years. Features came from Future, XXXTentacion, Juice WRLD and Corbin. The biggest song on the album is ‘Shibuya’, which has over 26 million Spotify streams, followed by ‘Wake Up!’ with more than 20 million plays.
