Sexxy Red denies her tour is being cancelled due to poor ticket sales

After it was reported that rising rap star Sexxy Red was set to cancel her forthcoming tour due to poor ticket sales, the Missouri native has denied these claims.

Beginning later this month, Sexxy Red is set to embark on her most ambitious tour yet, taking her shows to arenas across North America. Despite her vast streaming numbers, including over 17 million monthly listeners on Spotify, it was alleged that the rapper was struggling to make this step up to larger venues.

It comes following the release of her latest album, In Sexxy We Trust, which was released in May and charted at 17 in the United States. While she has a strong, dedicated following, The Art Of Dialogue and Touring Data claimed that only 37.111% of the 85,217 tickets for the upcoming tour had been sold, which had put the dates in jeopardy.

The publication of this report sending social media into delirium as users poked fun at Sexxy Red over the low ticket sales, but she’s now clapped back at the rumours, and proudly confirmed the shows will still go ahead.

Taking to X, Sexxy Red began by claiming the numbers in the report are fabricated and there’s nothing to be worried about, stating, “My fans are buying tickets we’re doin just fine we not cancelling no tour dis cancelling shit all cap.”

She also alleged that the reason for the negativity about her forthcoming tour was due to her decision to not work with multi-national promoters, and instead stay true to her independence by using a Black-owned business that isn’t part of the system

The rapper added: “Dis how Dey try to do u wen u go wit an independent promoter n the bigger companies try to sabotage u we not cancelling shit.”

In another post, she wrote: “I did my touring deal with a black promoter black owned company AG Entertainment and now Dey playin dirty paying pages spreading fake news to discourage my fans from buying tickets.”

While Sexxy Red didn’t name the person or business she believes is attempting to “sabotage” her touring plans, she is adamant it is a direct result of her not working with mainstream promoters on the run of dates.

Due to her huge profile, Sexxy Red could easily secure contracts with major promoters and labels, but has chosen to go down a different path. Last year, she said of her independent status during a conversation with Interview Magazine, “I’m not even looking for no deal, for real”.
