Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs submits new appeal in bid to be released from jail

After almost a month in prison, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has filed a new appeal to try and make bail. He was originally arrested on September 16th in New York and has been held in detention ever since.

Combs was arrested and charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. He pled not guilty to the charges and asked for bail; however, his request was denied. It was determined that he would stay in prison until a trial date had been set.

The disgraced music mogul continues to try to make bail despite it previously being rejected, as he has now issued another appeal to be released. The rapper’s legal team is trying to appeal the most recent denial, stating that he is not a flight risk and will attend his court date when it is assigned in the near future.

His legal team previously offered a $50million bond; however, it was denied by the prosecution, which deemed the rapper a flight risk and raised concerns about him tampering with the case before it had even gone to trial. Combs’s legal team, led by Marc Agnifilo, states that the large bond is enough proof that he’s is not a flight risk and ensures he will attend his trial.

Combs’ legal team has also said that he will happily be subject to various conditions if he makes bail. He confirms he will take weekly drug tests and look for a buyer for his private jet. They also raised the fact that since being in prison, he hasn’t had any female visitors apart from occasional family members. He has also confirmed he won’t contact any grand jury members.

It is yet to be determined whether Combs’s appeal will be successful. His last two attempts were rejected, as US Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky said, “I don’t believe that counsel has the ability to control you […] Given the very significant concerns I have, particularly because of substance abuse and what seem like anger issues.”

His legal representation, Agnifilio, continues to fight for bail, as he has previously confirmed he intends to get Combs out of prison. “I’m not going to let him sit in that jail a day longer than he has to,” he asserted.

Given the concerns raised by judges after hearing Combs’s last attempts at making bail, it is difficult to see what measures could be put in place to change their minds. The outcome of the music moguls’ appeal will be revealed in due course.
