Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs wants to testify at trial, lawyer claims
Marc Agnifilo, the lawyer for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, has confirmed that the rapper plans to testify at his upcoming trial over sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
Combs has been retained in detention at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn following sex trafficking and racketeering charges brought against him on September 16th when he was arrested in New York. Due to being viewed as a flight risk, Combs has been denied bail and will remain in custody until he faces trial.
The local authorities are still yet to reveal when Combs is set to face trial. The ongoing lawsuit claims that he ran a vast network which facilitated sexual crimes and committed acts of sexual violence on a number of people over the years.
“The defendant is dangerous and poses an ongoing threat to the safety of the community,” the prosecutors alleged following his arrest.
Apart from denying the charges that he’s facing, Combs has stayed silent since his arrest. However, his lawyer, Agnifilo, has been a vocal voice, who has spoken on behalf of the defence ahead of the trial.
Firstly, following the arrest on September 16th, Agnifilo said: “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. To his credit, Mr Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation, and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts.”
Now, in a teaser trailer for TMZ’s documentary, The Downfall of Diddy: The Indictment, Agnifilo admitted of the forthcoming trial: “I don’t know that I could keep him off the stand. I think he’s very eager to tell his story.”
Agnifilo also discussed the video of Diddy assaulting Cassie Ventura in a hotel lobby which emerged earlier this year, stating, “I think he will tell every part of his story, including what you see on the video.”
Discussing their relationship, he added: “He has his story, and he has a story that, I think, only he can tell in the way he can tell it in real time. It’s a human story. It’s a story of love, it’s a story of hurt, it’s a story of heartbreak.”
Agnifilo continued: “When he describes that relationship, the word he uses more than any other word is heartbreak. He was heartbroken. She was heartbroken.”
Meanwhile, earlier this week it was reported that Combs was refusing to eat while in prison due to his fear of his food being poisoned. Furthermore, it was alleged that he’s sharing a jail cell with the controversial cypto figure Sam Bankman-Fried at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre.
