Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs receives court hearing date for potential bail package
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is still incarcerated in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre, and many are happy for him to stay there and, more importantly, want him to remain there for the general public’s safety. However, the mogul’s lawyers have been working overtime to get him a bail package that would see him freed from the facility.
This month, the Bad Boy founder’s legal team filed a motion for a bail package despite previous requests being denied. However, from reports on the ground, they are slowly but surely moving towards what they perceive to be a more reasonable offer.
The latest bail motion put forward by Combs’ team has been described by them as “more robust” and based on “new evidence.” The conditions would see the enforcement of nonstop security monitoring and a complete restriction on Combs’ ability to communicate with anyone but his lawyers. However, the bail request is still set at $50million.
According to his lawyers, the new evidence “makes clear that the government’s case is thin” and heavily undermines the prosecution’s case against the mogul. The strengthened motion has made the musician’s team optimistic, and so far, they have indicated that it is the best bail offer they have received since Combs’ arrest in September.
Although it’s similar to past ones with the $50million bond, which has been rejected on multiple occasions, the monitoring of Combs and his limited interaction with the world would see him placed under the most stringent house arrest to avoid potential violations.
Although it is similar in some ways to motions that have been filed and rejected before, this one highlights older rulings made by the court in similar cases where bail was, in fact, granted. One was a sex trafficking case involving a CEO who was accused of witness intimidation.
However, they point to a bail package with bail set at $10million and a $500k compliance measurement. The sum of money is much lower in that example, but Combs’ team argues that its essence is close enough.
According to the renowned and respected legal affairs journalist Megan Cuniff, a hearing for a judgment on the bail motion has been set. According to her trusted inside sources, it will take place on Friday, November 22nd, at the Southern District of New York Courthouse in Manhattan.
Many are already worried that, on this occasion, the scales of justice will tip in the producer’s favour. Still, the odds are stacked against him as he was previously deemed too much of a flight risk to be allowed bail. Diddy continues to deny any wrongdoing.
