Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lawyers demand response to gag order request
Since his arrest on September 16th, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has remained behind bars in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre. Still, while he sits in jail, multiple additional lawsuits have been filed. Combs’ initial arrest was for sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.
That said, the Bad Boy founder’s legal team is unhappy with the way new allegations have been spreading on the internet and in the media. Furthermore, they are highly frustrated with the way potential witnesses have been speaking about the case on entertainment platforms.
As such, all of Combs’ attorneys have demanded that the presiding judge respond to their request for a gag order to prevent potential witnesses from continuously speaking. The producer’s attorneys, Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, recently wrote a letter stating that there has been a “deluge of improper pretrial publicity.”
They then assertively requested for the second time that a gag order be issued to prevent potential witnesses from speaking with the media. Agnifilo and Geragos insisted that the witnesses are “undermining Mr. Combs’ right to a fair trial and the integrity of the grand jury proceedings.”
Speaking about all the allegations and rumours that have been spread out of court on public platforms, Combs’ attorneys continued, “These stories have spread rapidly through the media and created the impression that such videos exist, which is false, and that the government is actually crediting his sensational claims, which is profoundly prejudicial.”
The prosecutors building a case against Combs have previously fired back at Agnifilo and Geragos. In a letter, they argued that the court can’t impact plaintiffs in civil litigation. However, Combs’ relentless attorneys aimed at the officials, writing, “It makes little sense that civil litigants seeking to capitalize on the criminal allegations against Mr Combs can nonetheless claim that they are not involved in the criminal proceedings.”
The latest update in the Diddy case has been the subpoena of Courtney Birgess, who, on November 1st, appeared at a Manhattan federal court to hand over evidence that allegedly had proof of Combs’ “freak offs.” Furthermore, Burgess alleged his footage depicts Combs performing illicit sexual acts. Burgess has even suggested there are other celebrities caught on camera.
In a recent interview with TMZ outside the courthouse, Burgess also claimed that he has an unedited version of the late Kim Porter’s diary. Porter had four children with Combs before her death in 2018. For now, Combs remains behind bars at the Metropolitan Detention Centre.
