Netflix reveals viewing figures for ‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’
Sean Combs: The Reckoning arrived on Netflix last week. Following the Diddy documentary being released on December 2nd, the initial viewing figures have been revealed.
Executive produced by 50 Cent, the four-part docuseries is about the sexual misconduct allegations against Combs. It’s described as “a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend, and convicted offender.”
According to Deadline, Sean Combs: The Reckoning debuted with a total of 21.8 million views. The Netflix tracking week is from December 1st to December 7th, meaning the documentary had only six days worth of data.
The series was only narrowly beaten by the fifth season of Stranger Things, which had 23.6 million views in its second week of release.
Combs’ team has criticised the documentary, revealing they are “deeply concerned” about the series using alleged unauthorised footage.
Spokesperson Juda Engelmayer said it included “private moments, pre-indictment material from an unfinished project, and conversations involving legal strategy.”
His mother, Janice Combs, also slammed the release, sharing a statement to “correct some of the lies” in the docuseries, alleging there are “inaccuracies” about her son’s upbringing.
The documentary, directed by Alex Stapleton, is said to “unpack the shocking allegations behind Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and his Bad Boy empire, spanning decades of his life and career.”
Combs is currently serving a 50-month sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey following his conviction. He was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and is scheduled to be released from prison in 2028.
