Rihanna has officially become a billionaire, according to Forbes.
The singer hasn’t released any music since 2016’s Anti and has spent the last five years ploughing her time into her business ventures. Although her fans are agonisingly waiting for new material, Rihanna’s bank balance is thankful for her change in direction.
Forbes has estimated that her company, Fenty Beauty, which she owns 50%, is worth $2.8 billion. Meanwhile, they note that her lingerie company, Savage X Fenty, is worth around $270 million.
RiRi owns Fenty Beauty alongside French luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, and they launched the company together in 2017. It took less than a year for the collaboration had already toppled other celebrity-founded brands such as Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics and Kim Kardashian West’s KKW Beauty.
Last year, they also launched Fenty Skin which Forbes notes has gotten underway to “a very promising start”.
When she’s not been too busy with Fenty, Rihanna has also successfully pivoted to cinema during her musical sabbatical. She starred in Ocean’s Eight in 2018 and also Guava Island.
Overall, Rihanna is now worth $1.7 billion, making her the wealthiest woman in music and second only to Oprah Winfrey in entertainment industry.
