Kanye West announces second 'Donda' release event

Another day and another Donda announcement arrives at our news desk; this time, Kanye West has confirmed that his new album Donda will be given a second release event on Thursday, August 5th.

Taking place at Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the place where Ye has reportedly been holed up putting the finishing touches to the record since the full-length’s first release party, the second show should provide a clue as to how hard he’s been working.

Tickets for the show go on sale tomorrow, with Demna Gvasalia credited as the creative director for the release. The album was originally scheduled to be released on July 23rd via G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam Recordings with the first premiere kicking off the apparent celebrations the previous evening, streamed live by Apple Music. However, the record didn’t show.

Not for the first time, Kanye had his fans refreshing their streaming platforms awaiting the latest drop, only to be let down. We can’t imagine the minute tweaking going on at that stadium, but the next release party will hopefully end with the record’s release.

Outside of those in the audience that night, the number of people to hear the album’s contents are minimal. Social media personality Justin LaBoy revealing that he and NBA star Kevin Durant had heard the new album.

The Revolt TV presenter wrote: “Kanye played his new album for me and Durant last night in Vegas. Man listen! The production is light years ahead of its time, and the bars sound like he’s broke and hungry trying to get signed again. Any artist who plan on dropping soon should just push it back Respectfully.”

In fairness to LaBoy, there could still be a few release slots available before Donda finally reaches our ears. For now, we’ll just eagerly await the weekly release parties.
