Remy Ma’s son arrested for murder
Remy Ma’s son has been arrested as a suspected culprit in a murder case from 2021. The 23-year-old named Jayson Scott was arrested on June 18th by the New York Police Department (NYPD) alongside Richard Swygert, who was also charged with murder in the first degree.
The murder allegedly took place in the New York borough of Queens, and the NYPD suspect the homicide is related to the city’s lucrative drug trade. The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux, who, in late 2020, was indicted by New York’s attorney general as a suspect in an investigation into a large-scale drug operation.
Scott not only faces a first-degree murder charge but also second-degree murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree reckless endangerment. However, his suspected counterpart, Swygert, only faces one charge.
Following a 911 call, Guillebeaux was found with multiple gunshots to his body, several to his chest but also many to his head. He was rushed to a local Queens’ Jamaica Hospital Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after.
The drug trade investigation the NYPD carried out was dubbed “Operation Heat Wave” and has seen the arrest of 54 people. The dealings investigated involved large amounts of heroin, fentanyl and oxycodone that were being sold in upstate New York.
Scott may, unfortunately, follow in his mother’s footsteps, who, shortly after her album release in 2006, found herself having a severe brush with the law after an accident with a firearm, which resulted in one of her friends being shot. In 2007, Remy Ma (real name Reminisce Mackie) was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Jayson Scott has appeared on television several times on the reality TV show Love & Hip-Hop: New York. His godfather is Terror Squad founder Fat Joe, and his step-father is the iconic Brooklyn emcee Papoose.
