Ray J reveals he almost died in hospital: “My heart’s only beating like 25%”
Ray J has provided an update on his health, revealing he almost died during his recent hospital visit.
The ‘One Wish’ singer was hospitalised in Las Vegas earlier this month with pneumonia and heart pains. He was admitted on January 6th and received X-rays and an echocardiogram.
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Ray J claimed his heart isn’t working to its full capacity.
“My heart’s only beating like 25%, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, then everything will be all right,” he said in a video. “So, thank you for all your prayers.”
In the caption of the post, he added, “Just almost died!! I’m alive because of your prayers and support!!”
This isn’t the first time Ray has been hospitalised with pneumonia. In Miami in 2021, reports said the singer was worried he might die.
He was put on oxygen and needed to use an inhaler, but he recovered, and his breathing returned to normal.
His manager, David Weintraub, stated his health scare was due to him being “overworked”, saying, “He’s in the hospital for pneumonia, but it’s not the contagious kind. [The doctors] wanted to keep him there a couple extra days to watch him.”
In a statement at the time, Ray said, “I appreciate all the love and support from everybody. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers, and I will be back up and running soon.”
His latest health issues came shortly after he was accused of pulling a gun on his ex-wife on a live stream. In December, he was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and charged with six misdemeanour offences.
