Ray J detained by police after “aggressive” fight with ex-partner
Ray J was detained by police last week following a fight with his ex-partner, Princess Love. Officers were called after the singer returned home from a tour on March 13th, with the couple proceeding to argue about their pending divorce.
The Los Angeles Police Department say they received a call from Love, claiming Ray J was being aggressive and yelling while possibly under the influence of alcohol.
According to TMZ, police officers put Ray J in handcuffs upon arriving at the house. They kept him in the back of their vehicle to de-escalate the situation and discover what happened during their altercation.
Ultimately, he was taken out of the handcuffs, and it was determined that no crime had been committed. Police still took a domestic violence report despite Ray J not being placed under arrest.
Footage of Ray J interacting with officers was posted online. In it, he can be heard thanking the police for how they handled the incident.
Love announced that they were getting divorced in February 2024 after calling things off multiple times in the past.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce,” she wrote on Instagram. “After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways.”
She continued, “We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”
Ray J later asked for joint custody of their children and for most of their assets to be kept separate.
