Ray J claims someone tried to shoot him: “And you want me to apologise?”
Ray J has claimed he was the target of a shooting that he believes was an attempt to kill him. The R&B singer, best known for hit singles like ‘Sexy Can I’ and ‘One Wish’, took to his Instagram Stories this week to detail the alleged incident.
In a brief video, Ray J informed fans about the apparent attempt on his life, making clear that he was shot at but had narrowly avoided the bullets. “N-ggas just tried to shoot me and tried to kill me, n-gga, and you want me to apologise, n-gga? Fuck you,” he said while looking at the camera.
It’s unclear whether the alleged shooting was random, but the fact he said “fuck you” to someone about an apology suggests that he might believe there was an ulterior motive to the attack. Outside of the musician’s reports of the event, there are very few details about the story.
The incident comes weeks after Ray J got into an altercation with Diddy’s sons, King Combs, Quincy Brown and Justin Dior Combs, outside of influencer Tara Electra’s Unruly Agency Halloween party in Los Angeles, which Chris Brown had to split up. Despite not actually having a fight, things got heated, with “crazy” words being thrown around at high volume before resolving their issues over a phone call after the fact.
Speaking to Nicki Minaj about the incident on Instagram Live, he said, “No, we didn’t have a fight. We had a big argument right outside the club. This time, I think I got loud and got aggressive. But it was the third time this happened so I felt like I needed to stand up for myself.”
He admitted he was “talking shit” and exchanging a war of words while trying to avoid things getting out of hand. “So that’s what happened and it’s unfortunate,” he said. “What’s dope is that we all got on the phone and we talked for about 35 minutes.”
Ray J claimed that the motive for the confrontations was his choice of words for Diddy, who is currently in custody over sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The singer made comments about the Bad Boy founder on his web series The Reality Check with Ray J, where he said people were being robbed of their money, spirituality, womanhood and manhood.
Still, Ray J feels it’s a shame that things couldn’t have been be figured out in another manner. “First off, they tried to fight me before in a hotel,” he told Minaj. “Justin said, ‘Let’s take a fade. I don’t like what you’re talking about with my pops.’ They tried to [be] cocky [to] me. It was in another dimension. I feel sad that violence is at the forefront of this, and we shouldn’t do that.”
No further details have been provided on either incident.
