Ray J says the Kim Kardashian sex tape changed the world
R’n’B singer Ray J recently revealed that, in his opinion, his sex tape with Kim Kardashian changed the world and suggested things would be drastically different if it had never come out.
During an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast hosted by Shannon Sharpe, the vocalist, who is Brandy’s brother, insisted that the reality TV star and billionaire Kim Kardashian wouldn’t have a platform if it wasn’t for their allegedly leaked home movie.
In fact, Ray J insisted that the 2007 tape changed the world. Speaking with Sharpe, Ray J (real name William Norwood Jr.) posed hypothetically, “How different would we all be? How different would this whole f**king thing be? How different would this industry be? Everything would be different!”
He continued, “There might not be any OnlyFans and all the things like that. All the opportunities like that. Probably more people would be going to college.” Kim Kardashian had a massive impact on American culture and has influenced millions of girls to pursue modelling, but she has arguably also made quasi-sex work, plastic surgery and many other negative things more acceptable.
Norwood posed a question to all his fellow celebrities, asking, “Are we a part of the cure or [are] we a part of the disease? I don’t know. All I know is I’m trying to make it right.”
During the interview, the ‘One Wish’ singer also spoke about Diddy and the leaked CCTV footage of him attacking Cassie in a hotel in 2016. Insisting Diddy’s behaviour is indefensible, Ray J said, “Everybody messes up, but we can’t be cool after that. It’s unforgivable, it’s too much. Never being able to be around us and our world ’cause we don’t condone that is definitely a fact.”
He concluded by asserting there is no situation that warrants such behaviour, Norwood finished, “There’s no room for that in this world that we’ve been working hard to get to. That’s fucking unacceptable. I’ve never ever seen nothing like that in my life.”
