Quavo accused of owing millions of dollars in taxes
The IRS claims that Quavo failed to pay a seven-figure tax bill.
The Internal Revenue Service for the US federal government has hit the Migos rapper with a lien to keep possession of his property until his debt is paid.
According to TMZ, documents were filed in January, with the IRS alleging he owes money for three separate years.
They claim he owes a total of $2,912,644.33, including $915,660 for 2021, $887,486 for 2022, and $1,109,497.79 for 2023.
Quavo was still part of Migos at the time, having released their fourth and final studio album, Culture III, in June 2021. The project reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart, with features from Drake, Future, Juice WRLD, Pop Smoke, NBA YoungBoy, and more.
He released his second solo album, Rocket Power, in August 2023, before dropping Only Built for Infinity Links, his collaborative album with Takeoff as Unc and Phew, in October 2022.
The IRS news comes just months after fellow Migos member Offset paid off a seven-figure tax debt of his own. He was accused of owing $292,000 for 2021, $1,575,266.73 for 2022 and $486,426.35 for 2023.
Cardi B previously claimed that unpaid taxes were getting in the way of her divorce from Offset.
“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” she said. “Y’all wanna know the tea? The only way I can get out of my marriage is if I pay for somebody else’s taxes, even though I pay for my own, and give them one of my properties.”
She added, “I’m fighting for that, I’m gonna fight for that. This is not no love shit.”
