Migos drop video for new Culture III single ‘Straightenin’

Migos have released the video for their new single, ‘Straightenin’. The track was announced via the trio’s social media with the hashtag ‘Culture3’, indicating to fans that it is taken from their upcoming album. In classic Migos fashion, the music video shows Migos surrounded by their friends and luxury cars. Bundling a large bundle of cash, Quavo raps: “Turn a pandemic into a bandemic / You know that’s the shit that we on.”

In January this year, Culture III was confirmed as the follow-up to the band’s third album, Culture II from 2018. The announcement was accompanied by the group sharing a trailer. Quavo has also recently stated that Culture III commenced the mixing process this April.

In the announcement trailer from January, Quavo said: “We (have) been having time to bond with each other and time to spend (apart), because our solo careers been allowing us to do different things.” Before adding. “We (have) got relationships, and we (are) growing.”

Previously, Quavo, the group’s founder, has said that Culture III would drop between February and March, but typical of the Georgia trio, the claims never came to fruition. The album had already been delayed, as it was originally intended to grace our ears last year but was, of course, delayed due to the pandemic.

In December last year, Quavo revealed the band’s feelings. “We don’t wanna drop it right now,” he said, before explaining: “We want the commotion, we want to move, we want to be outside. Quavo only summed up how a lot of other artists are feeling right now. “We want to drop it and go on tour. We want to have an album listening (party), and have people in the thang and really hearing the album.”

In his December update, Migos’ leader concluded: “I can’t drop no album and let the internet judge my album. It just don’t make sense. I just want to be with the people. I want to touch the people, and that’s what we gon’ do at the top of the year.”

In April, it was announced that Migos would be one of the headliners for this year’s Wireless Festival, set to take place in September at Crystal Palace Park.
