Cardi B admits she might be in jail without Offset divorce: “I was gonna end up killing him”

Cardi B has admitted she might have ended up in jail if she hadn’t filed for divorce from Offset. The ‘WAP’ rapper has claimed she got to a point in their relationship where she wanted to kill him.

The Bronx artist took to X Spaces on June 3rd to reflect on the final days of her marriage with Offset, which led to her filing papers in July 2024.

“I don’t think people understand how tired I was … I was mentally drained,” she said. “Couldn’t eat—I was getting frequent headaches. I was literally losing my mind. I gave [him] chances after chances. If I was still there, I was gonna end up going to jail. ‘Cause I was gonna end up killing him, seriously, with my own bare hands. It was just getting too much.”

In March, during another X Spaces session, Cardi B accused Offset of harassing her with messages and threatening to kill her.

“This guy is upset because I sent his girlfriend text messages of him begging me,” she said. “Saying he was going to take away his life, saying he was going to take away my life. He’s mad about that. Mind you, this man sent text messages to somebody that I was dealing with of me and him having sex. That’s the type of shit I’ve been dealing with for the past two months.”

Cardi previously filed for divorce from Offset in 2020, but eventually dismissed it. Speaking on the first filing, she said, “I just got tired of fucking arguing. I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye. When you feel like it’s just not the same anymore, before you actually get cheated on, I’d rather just leave. Nothing crazy out of this world happened, sometimes people really do grow apart.”

Over the weekend, Cardi went Instagram official with NFL star Stefon Diggs, confirming their relationship after months of rumours. Offset reacted to the news on X, writing, “Good roll out n PR.”
