Date announced for Pooh Shiesty’s robbery and kidnapping trial

A date has been announced for Pooh Shiesty‘s robbery and kidnapping trial.

The Memphis rapper, best known for ‘Back in Blood’ with Lil Durk, was arrested in April for an alleged “armed takeover” involving his label boss, Gucci Mane, whom he signed to in 2020.

According to Action News 5, on May 19th, a federal judge scheduled a jury trial for July 6th.

As well as Shiesty, the case also involves his father, Lontrell Williams Sr, rapper Big30 (real name Rodney Wright Jr), Demarcus Glover, Darrion McDaniel, Terrance Rodgers, Kordae Johnson, Kedarius Waters, and Damarian Gipso.

The men are accused of kidnapping and robbing several victims, including Gucci, at a recording studio in Dallas, Texas.

Reports claim the incident revolved around forcing Gucci to sign a contract to release Shiesty from his record deal, which involved a door being barricaded.

Speaking on the incident, US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Ryan Raybould, said,“ [Shiesty] produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint.”

He continued, “The remaining conspirators displayed firearms and robbed the other victims of Rolex watches, jewellery, cash and other high-value items. One of the victims was actually choked by one of the victims to near-unconsciousness.”

Shiesty pleaded not guilty earlier this month, with his father and Big30 also entering a not guilty plea.

His lawyers said, “We are awaiting a scheduling order from the court. Although we have not seen all of the evidence in the case, it is apparent that it’s a highly defensible case and we’re hoping to have [Shiesty] back in the recording studio very soon.”
