Pooh Shiesty pleads not guilty to robbing and kidnapping Gucci Mane

Pooh Shiesty has pleaded not guilty to robbing and kidnapping Gucci Mane.

Shiesty was arrested in April following an alleged gunpoint incident that involved Gucci being forced to sign a contract to release him from his record deal.

According to TMZ, Shiesty was arraigned in federal court in Dallas, Texas, on May 8th, and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.

In a statement, his lawyers Kent Schaffer and Saam Zangeneh said, “We are awaiting a scheduling order from the court. Although we have not seen all of the evidence in the case, it is apparent that it’s a highly defensible case and we’re hoping to have [Shiesty] back in the recording studio very soon.”

Shiesty, who remains behind bars, was charged alongside his father, fellow rapper Big30, and many others over what US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Ryan Raybould, described as an “armed takeover” at a recording studio.

Raybould said, “[Shiesty] produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint. The remaining conspirators displayed firearms and robbed the other victims of Rolex watches, jewellery, cash and other high-value items.”

He added, “One of the victims was actually choked by one of the victims to near-unconsciousness.”

One of the men is also accused of barricading the door to prevent the victims from leaving the building.

Shiesty signed to Gucci’s 1017 label in 2020, releasing his debut mixtape, Shiesty Season, in February 2021, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart.

The project included the hit single ‘Back in Blood’ with Lil Durk, along with ‘SUVs (Black on Black)’ featuring Jack Harlow and ‘Neighbors’ alongside Big30.
