Big30 granted $100,000 bail in Gucci Mane kidnapping case

Memphis rapper Big30 has been granted a $100,000 bond in the Gucci Mane kidnapping case.

The 26-year-old (real name Rodney Wright Jr) was arrested on April 2nd for his alleged role in robbing Gucci at gunpoint, alongside Pooh Shiesty, his father, and five others.

According to Action News 5, Big30 was granted bail on April 6th. The judge stated that the bond had to be secured by a $10,000 payment, with conditions including location monitoring, no contact with victims or co-defendants, supervision, and drug testing.

Big30 appeared in court for a detention hearing and was supported by dozens of friends and family.

The rapper previously pleaded guilty to gun charges in 2018. He was granted a diversion, and the charges were removed from his record.

Shiesty’s home was raided by the FBI last week, with the Department of Justice following up the incident with news of many arrests.

The alleged kidnap and robbery took place in Dallas on January 10th. US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Ryan Raybould, claimed that three people were at a studio to discuss Shiesty’ record contract, but it turned into an “armed takeover.”

Raybould said, “[Shiesty] produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint.”

He continued, “The remaining conspirators displayed firearms and robbed the other victims of Rolex watches, jewellery, cash and other high-value items. One of the victims was actually choked by one of the victims to near-unconsciousness.”

Big30 released his last album, Still King, in May 2024. He has over 1.9 million monthly Spotify listeners, with his biggest songs including Shiesty collaborations ‘Neighbors’ and ‘Allegations’, which each have 104 million and 70 million streams.
