Pooh Shiesty’s lawyer withdraws from Gucci Mane kidnapping case
Pooh Shiesty is going through some legal changes after his attorney decided to withdraw from his case.
Shiesty was arrested earlier this month for allegedly robbing and kidnapping his label boss, Gucci Mane.
On April 28th, lawyer Bradford Cohen, who has represented Lil Wayne, Drake, DMX, and Kodak Black, took to Instagram to reveal that he was walking away from the case.
“Quick update on the Pooh Shiesty case… I will be withdrawing from the case,” he said in an Instagram video. “No implications for withdrawing from the case, I still think he has a great case. I think there are a lot of holes in it. I think the government has a lot of explaining to do on the case.”
He continued, “I think it’s one of those cases where, once you start really screwing down on the information and the facts, I think a lot is going to be coming out that will be beneficial to the defence. I think they’re going to do a great job, and I look forward to seeing how the case winds up.”
Shiesty and eight others were arrested over the alleged incident, which was described as an “armed takeover.” The door was allegedly barricaded to stop the victims from leaving the recording studio.
US Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, Ryan Raybould, said, “[Shiesty] produced an AK-style pistol and forced one of the victims to sign a release from the recording contract at gunpoint.”
He added, “The remaining conspirators displayed firearms and robbed the other victims of Rolex watches, jewellery, cash and other high-value items. One of the victims was actually choked by one of the victims to near-unconsciousness.”
After being hit with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping charges, Shiesty was denied bail.
