Pooh Shiesty denied bail in Gucci Mane kidnapping case

Pooh Shiesty has been denied bail following his arrest last week over the alleged kidnapping of Gucci Mane.

The Memphis rapper was taken into custody on April 2nd after being accused of robbing his label boss in January.

He allegedly forced Gucci to sign a label deal release at gunpoint after barricading a Dallas music studio.

According to Billboard, the 26-year-old was denied bond on April 8th after being hit with kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping charges.

In a detention order, US Magistrate Judge Renée Harris Toliver wrote, “Based on the credible evidence presented at the hearing, the court finds probable cause to believe that defendant committed the law violations alleged in the criminal complaint.”

She continued, “In light of that fact and the fact that the conditions of pretrial release at this court’s disposal are the same or similar to those defendant has already violated, the court finds that there is no condition or combination of conditions the court can impose in this case which will reasonably assure defendant’s appearance as required or the safety of the community or another person if released.”

Shiesty was one of eight people arrested earlier this month, including his father and fellow rapper Big30.

Speaking on the allegations, Shiesty’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, said, “The FBI doesn’t take three months to arrest someone if they believe everything that was said on the night that it occurred. They have no contract. They have no video of this alleged signing of a contract. They have no guns. They have no jewellery. They have none of that physical evidence.”

If found guilty of the charges against him, Shiesty faces up to life in prison.
