Police officer who shot rapper 17 times was being investigated for another shooting
The off-duty police officer who shot Atlanta rapper B Green 17 times was reportedly under investigation for another shooting at the time.
The 44-year-old rapper (real name Linton Blackwell) was killed on October 11th, 2025, outside Five Paces Inn in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, after being struck multiple times from behind.
According to Capital B News, the officer, Gerald Walker, was being investigated for another incident that took place on March 26th that same year.
While on shift, he shot 42-year-old Travis Walker with a shotgun outside an auto repair shop in Sylvan Hills.
Green’s cousin, Jimmy Hill, whose own son was killed by a police officer in 2019, said, “[If] you keep continuing to get away [with bad behaviour] and you’re not being held accountable, you get bolder and bolder.”
He continued, “It’s disturbing that the Atlanta Police Department has never been held accountable for having bad officers on the force, bad apples on the force. You know, the bad apples really come from rotten trees.”
Gerald Walker was working a security job at a bar at the time of Green’s death. Police claimed Walker shot the rapper after responding to reports of a “disruptive person.”
Walker allegedly saw Green trying to re-enter the bar through the rear entrance, before going to a car in the parking lot and “putting an item in the small of his back.”
The report said Walker issued commands “in reference to a gun” before shooting, which resulted in Green being pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators later found a firearm.
Results of the autopsy surfaced in November, revealing the father of two was hit 17 times during the fatal incident.
