Atlanta rapper B Green killed by off-duty police officer

Atlanta rapper B Green was murdered by an off-duty police officer earlier this month. The 44-year-old (real name Linton Blackwell) was shot and killed in an incident that took place on October 11th.

The shooting occurred at around 11:35pm on 41 Irby Avenue NE. A preliminary statement from the Atlanta Police Department stated that an officer working an extra job responded to a request for assistance at a bar, 5 Places Inn, over an alleged disruption.

“The officer encountered the individual attempting to reenter the establishment from the back parking lot (3198 Caines Hill Place),” the statement read. “The preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect was in possession of a firearm.”

The officer was uninjured during the incident. However, Capital B News reports that B Green was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation claimed that the officer saw Green grab what he believed was a firearm from his car before going back into the bar.

The police officer allegedly opened fire following several voice commands. A gun was recovered at the scene, but it’s unclear who it belonged to. An incident report referred to the shooting officer as G Walker.

Speaking at Green’s remembrance in DeKalb Memorial Park, his aunt, Faith Harper, said, “He was a very respectful, kind, nice young man. He’s an angel gone too soon, but he will watch over us.”

His cousin, Marcus Harper, added, “He was very cordial, he loved his family, especially his daughters.”

B Green has over 19,000 followers on Instagram, with fans flooding his older posts with tributes. He released his last album, PTSD: Vietnam Vet, in November 2020, with his last single, ‘Granny’s House’, arriving in 2022.
