Playboi Carti seemingly disses Lil Yachty after chart success
Playboi Carti is on a high right now following his album release. The Atlanta emcee has had a lot of commercial success recently with his album I Am Music, and he has not hesitated to let it be known how successful he has been.
With his latest album, Playboi Carti has given fans 32 tracks. In a record-breaking feat, the ‘Magnolia’ rhymer charted 31 songs in one week, becoming the first emcee of all time to have this many tracks on the Billboard Hot 100.
However, while celebrating the achievement online, he seemingly took shots at Lil Yachty indirectly by talking to his own current girlfriend, Gio Ramos. Taking to social media, the Die Lit creator posted a picture of himself in front of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, writing, “@ft.gioo Ya ex could never.”
Who was Gio Raos? Seemingly, it was Lil Yachty. The diss was definitely aimed at someone, and although fans weren’t sure whether or not it was Yachty, the ‘One Night’ rhymer most definitely took it personally and sought to address his relationship with Gio Ramos quickly.
Taking to social media, Yachty wrote, “I never dated Gio 4 da record,” clarifying, “[It] was always platonic.” Although the emcee wrote it, he then deleted the tweet, suggesting a back-channel discussion was happening behind the scenes. Although Yachty eventually deleted the post, it seems evident that he and Carti have had some issues in the past, but they definitely have not been public-facing.
Concerning musical style, some years ago, there were allegations he switched his style to emulate Playboi Carti and elevate his status in hip-hop. Furthermore, there were suggestions that he went ahead with a fashion rebrand to rock clothes reminiscent of Carti’s.
DJ Akademiks was the carrier of these rumours and even claimed Yachty told him this himself. However, the Teenage Emotions creator fired back on X, posting, “I didn’t tell you this at all,” Boat wrote. Stop drinking, bro.”
