Playboi Carti lashes out at Instagram for ruining his album rollout
Playboi Carti has been present yet so absent in hip-hop. Although he released songs such as ‘All Red’ and ‘H00dByAir’ last year, the Atlanta emcee hasn’t released an album since 2020 and has played a backseat role in rap music ever since.
Following the release of Whole Lotta Red, Playboi Carti promised fans an album. However, it appears that I Am Music, which was once highly anticipated, may join other infamous unreleased projects, such as Detox and Glasshouse.
Carti has been teasing his album for most of the decade, and he even gave fans a lead single last year. That said, fans are now excited as Carti has suddenly returned to social media to promote I Am Music. However, he has had serious issues with the platform amidst the rollout.
On February 3rd, the ‘Magnolia’ lyricist took to Instagram to address his frustrations with Instagram and claimed that the platform has repeatedly flagged the posts on his burner account, which he uses to hint at new releases.
Many assume he might even use it to post a release date for I Am Music. Speaking out about the platform, Carti posted, “We good, but IG on dat Opium is a drug sh*t.” He continued, “Dey flagging me err time I post on dis mf.”
It would be understandable if Playboi Carti was a prolific user of Instagram, but for an artist who is as erratic and elusive as him, many are wondering why he is having issues with posting on the social media platform. However, many are turning on the ‘Backr00ms’ rhymer, insisting that his failure to deliver an album is more of an issue in their eyes.
One user facetiously wrote, “Congrats.” Another wrote, “I almost gave a damn.” However, one writer accused the emcee of spreading misinformation, commenting, “[Carti] keeps getting flagged for spreading misinformation.”
Playboi Carti’s recent teases of music feel more frustrating because, last year, the rapper gave fans a deadline of March 2025, meaning he has crossed his own deadline. We’ve now passed the delivery deadline, and he’s even due to perform at the Rolling Loud festival, yet he has not given any further updates about the project’s release.
Spotify seemingly made a deal with Playboi Carti’s team to promote I Am Music. The streaming platform has erected several billboards throughout the United States, which gave desperate fans a glimmer of hope. Furthermore, the company tweeted out an emoji of an hourglass on March 2nd. But still, nothing has been delivered.
Still, as it stands, everybody, including Spotify, is unsure when Carti plans on releasing I Am Music, and many have given up hope. His fans are extremely angry with the emcee for continuing to make empty promises.
