Pharrell defends Jay-Z at Bronx show and targets rappers: “I hope you kill all them”
Pharrell has come to Jay-Z’s defence while targeting unnamed rappers.
Hov brought out Pharrell for two nights in a row during his concerts at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York City, over the weekend.
On July 12th, Skateboard P came out for performances of ‘Excuse Me Miss’, ‘La La La’, ‘I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)’, ‘Frontin’, ‘Allure’, and ‘Grindin’ with Clipse.
During his time on stage, Pharrell claimed that Jay was ready to “go to war,” suggesting new music.
In the same sentence, he urged Hov to “kill” his rivals, claiming the stadium would know who he was referring to.
“They poked the bear, and now the bear cut his hair,” he said. “And he got on his helmet. Now he about to go to war. I hope you kill all them n*ggas … y’all know who I’m talking about.”
While it’s unclear who Pharrell was directing his attention to, Jay previously dissed Drake, Kanye West, and Nicki Minaj in a freestyle at Roots Picnic earlier this year.
Pharrell has been recording music with Jay-Z for over 20 years. During an interview with Life + Times, P spoke about their friendship.
“When you find individuals that see the same value as you do in their music, you guys tend to be cool,” he said. “Once we met we just creatively admired the different aspects of the way we worked and I think were artist’s artists – we admire other people’s processes and take interest in the things that inspire each other.
He added, “It wasn’t just like what he was saying. It was what he was inspired by. Or it wasn’t just about the way our music sounded, he wanted to know what is was coming from. That’s like when our friendship developed.”
