Jay-Z disses Drake, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj in new freestyle
Jay-Z has dissed Drake, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj in a new freestyle.
Hov made his return to the stage as a headliner at Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on May 30th. During his performance, he took a moment to spit a ferocious verse, in which he targeted Drizzy, Ye, and Minaj.
Drake released his Iceman album last month, including his hit single ‘Janice STFU’, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In the lyrics, Drizzy raps, “The jig is up,” referencing Jay-Z’s “Jigga” nickname.
In response, Hov said, “The jig is up/ We got up 10/ Wrong chart champ/ You gotta look up again/ N*ggas look up to Hov/ I never looked up to them.”
He continued, “Them crackers got your publishing gangsta, go talk tough to them, don’t talk success to me/ You n*ggas is workers, in perpetuity is how your contract is worded/ Don’t make me go further, man.”
Jay also turned his attention to his former friend and collaborator, Kanye West, after he made comments about his and Beyoncé’s children.
He rapped, “You ever heard of wonder-kin? My children are some of them/ Have you n*ggas no shame?/ You trying to get under skin? I’ll really get under skin.”
Minaj has been outspoken about Jay in recent years, claiming he owes her $200 million and accusing him of being a “child predator.” Hov fired back, “That lady back on that stuff/ She sounds like she’s in love with ’em/ Her Ken can’t even pick they kid, enough of them.”
Jay-Z’s retaliation comes despite voicing that he’s against dissing while addressing Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef.
“It’s too far,” he told GQ. “It’s bringing people’s kids in it. I don’t like that. “I sound like the old guy wagging his finger, but I think we can achieve the same thing, as far as sparring with music, with collaborations more so than breaking the whole thing apart.”
