Pa Salieu released from prison after 33 months

UK emcee Pa Salieu has been released from prison after a lengthy stint that saw him spend 33 months in a cell following a conviction for violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon.

The verdict was delivered in 2022 after a lengthy and tenuous series of legal proceedings following a 2018 incident that saw Pa Salieu in a fight outside of Coventry’s Club M. According to records, the musician used a bottle to assault someone. It was reported as a revenge attack for the death of Fidel “AP” Glasgow.

Eleven other men were jailed as a result of the brawl. However, Pa Salieu’s sentence was heavier than others as he had previously been handed a suspended sentence for possessing a knife in 2015. Following the verdict, he and his team decided not to release any music, unlike other rappers who sometimes keep their fanbase engaged while behind bars.

Considering his notoriety in the UK, the emcee has a very small discography and has only released one full-length project, Send Them to Coventry, which arrived in 2020. A year later, the musician released his EP Afrikan Rebel.

Pa Salieu has worked with the likes of Mahalia, Aitch, Slowthai, Ghetts, Skillibeng, and many other well-known figures in the UK rap world. That said, in 2021, he was nominated for the Rising Star Award at the 2021 BRITs and made his debut on US television later that year with a performance of “Frontline” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Now he is free, fans are excited, and they were one of the first people to find out as he recently took to social media, writing, “I been gone for a while but I still made it back to you”, posted alongside a photo of the rapper. On X (formerly Twitter), he also plainly wrote, “Freedom Street.” The tweet was also accompanied by a snippet of a new music video.
