Nipsey Hussle honoured with star on Hollywood 'Walk of Fame'

The late L.A. rapper Nipsey Hussle is set to be honoured with a star on Hollywood’s renowned ‘Walk of Fame’. The late rapper’s star will be revealed on August 15th, which would have been his 37th birthday.

Hussle was born in the Crenshaw area of south L.A. and, since his untimely demise, has been hailed for his philanthropy and local activism efforts. While alive, the rapper funded improvements to deprived neighbourhood schools, spent time with Crenshaw students to steer them away from crime and made sure to denounce gun violence in his music.

The rapper, who made platinum-certified hits such as ‘Racks in the Middle’, not only had a significant impact on hip hop with his music but also significantly impacted his area, with now over 50 murals dedicated to the rapper. Furthermore, L.A.’s Metro Rail has now announced a brand new station will be named after him.

In 2019, Hussle was shot and killed in the parking lot of his store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles. This year, Eric Holder was found guilty of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted voluntary manslaughter relating to injuries he caused to bystanders.

Now, Hussle’s legacy will live on through this deserved star on the Walk of Fame. A long time in the making, Hussle was first nominated for the star in June of last year, along with group The Black Eyed Peas, George Clinton, Ashanti and DJ Khaled, to name a few.

According to a tweet sent out by one of the rapper’s close friends Karen Civil, the ceremony and reveal will take place on August 15th at 10am in Hollywood. However, this is yet to be confirmed by the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, so fans will have to wait and see.
