Nas reveals Eminem rejected feature on ‘Daughters’

Nas has revealed that Eminem turned down an appearance on his song ‘Daughters’ in 2012.

Produced by No ID, ‘Daughters’ appeared on Nas’ Life Is Good album and finds him rapping about his daughter growing up.

During his appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, the Queensbridge rapper opened up about Em rejecting a verse on the track.

“Every record I do is not a battle,” he said. “I remember I had sent the song ‘Daughters’ to Eminem, and at the time, you know, he had spent so much time speaking on daughters, he was like, ‘Thank you, but I told my daughter I’m not doing any more songs directly about daughters at the moment because that’s a sensitive issue with all the music I put out.’”

He continued, “But he was like, ‘Thank you, ’cause most people wanna do songs where they’re battling me. It was refreshing to get a record where you’re not coming for me.’”

Throughout his career, Em has dedicated many songs to his daughters, Hailie Jade and Alaina Marie, including ‘Hailie’s Song’ and ‘Mockingbird‘.

Nas spoke to XXL about his daughter, Destiny Jones, the inspiration behind ‘Daughters’, in 2012. He explained, “She’s so important to me and she always has been. They grow so fast and time flies, man. Before you know it, you’re looking at a little lady.”

He added, “She’s my first kid, my first time watching a child become a teen and a little adult before my eyes. That’s one of the most important things in my life. She is. I can’t get away from talking about it.”

Nas collaborated with Eminem for the first time in 2021 on the song ‘EPMD 2’, which also featured EPMD. The track appeared on his King’s Disease II album.
