Mike Dean refutes quitting Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ production

Iconic hip hop producer Mike Dean has denied that he has quit producing Kanye West’s new album, Donda, despite his recent comments.

Donda has become somewhat of a soap opera after yet another week passes, and the album still hasn’t arrived. The original plan from Yeezy was to release Donda on July 23rd. Still, Kanye being Kanye, couldn’t resist tweaking further with the album and leaving fans to wear down the skin on their thumbs from relentlessly refreshing his page on Spotify.

It’s a move that hasn’t only angered his supporters, but allegedly has annoyed his producer, Mike Dean, too.

Over the weekend, Dean seemed to be frustrated at the lack of air time for his work and used his Twitter feed as the place to let these feelings of exasperation from working on Donda off his chest.

He reeled off several posts, including saying “fuck it” and “good to be at the house”. Dean then replied to a comment claiming that West’s album rollout had seemed “toxic” from the outside looking in, to which the producer responded by posting, “Toxic. That’s it”. Furthermore, later on, he wrote, “I left Monday. Secretly. Had to get away.”

However, Dean has refuted fans’ suggestions that he’s quit working on Donda despite his flurry of tweets, which alluded to his exit. “I haven’t quit anything,” he updated fans. “The album continues. Lol. People read too much into tweets. Lol.”

Even though Dean is still seemingly working on the album, the process has been one that’s been unconventional and highly challenging to be involved in.

Fingers crossed, the album is worth all this tiresome rigmarole and the circus.
