Metro Boomin hires psychologist ahead of sexual assault trial

Metro Boomin was recently accused of sexual assault. Ahead of his trial later this month, the producer has hired a psychologist.

Dr Elizabeth Loftus has been hired as an expert witness, known as “one of the nation’s leading experts on memory,” and has previously been part of cases with Michael Jackson.

Loftus is expected to push that Vanessa LeMaistre’s recollection was impacted by “psychological factors” like trauma, high stress, and memory distortion.

“Based upon my review, it is my professional opinion that there are significant memory issues in the current case,” she said in court documents obtained by Complex. She added that the woman “pursued a connection with” Metro and “expressed a desire to spend time” with him in her journal.

Another psychologist, April D Thames, who has also been hired, added, “While individuals may respond to trauma in complex and varied ways, such post-incident contact, particularly characterised by affection or re-engagement, raises legitimate questions regarding the plausibility and internal consistency of her narrative.”

LeMaistre claimed Metro gave her a shot of alcohol and half a Xanax bar and woke up unable to move or make any noise, which is when he allegedly raped her. Weeks later, she found out she was pregnant and claimed it was his child.

“When Wayne invited Ms LeMaistre to visit him at recording studios in California, where she lived, she was happy for the opportunity to watch him work,” the lawsuit read. “Because she was passionate about music, but more importantly because music provided an escape from the pain she was in after losing her son.”

It continued, “Devastatingly, however, meeting Wayne resulted in Ms LeMaistre suffering from the second worst thing that ever happened to her – being raped by someone who pretended to be her friend for months.”

The trial is set to begin on September 23rd, following an unsuccessful mediation.
