Metro Boomin acquitted of all charges in sexual assault trial
Metro Boomin has been found not liable in his sexual assault trial. The verdict was made on September 25th after just an hour of deliberation.
The Atlanta musician (real name Leland Wayne) was accused of raping Vanessa LeMaistre at a California hotel in 2016.
The jury, comprising five men and three women, unanimously agreed that the woman had failed to prove her claims.
As a result, Metro was found not guilty of all four causes of action. Speaking after leaving the courthouse, the producer told Rolling Stone, “I’m blessed. I’m relieved. I never thought I would ever have to do anything like that. I’m just relieved.”
He added, “It’s a burden lifted off my back. I’ll just get back to my family and continue to do the great things that I strive to do.”
Despite the verdict, LeMaistre’s lead lawyer, Michael J Willemin, stated that they will continue mistrial motions “based on various errors and the admission of certain evidence and the exclusion of certain evidence.”
Willemin continued, “We’ll be pursuing both of those motions for a mistrial and eventually an appeal. This is far from the end of this case.”
In the lawsuit, filed in October 2024, LeMaistre claimed Metro gave her a shot of alcohol and half a Xanax bar and woke up unable to move or make any noise, which is when he allegedly raped her. She later found out she was pregnant and claimed it was his child.
Speaking on the trial, one of the jurors said, “The evidence wasn’t there. A lot of it was just testimony or talking about it. There was no substantial, ‘This is what happened.’ There were no dates recollected correctly. She didn’t remember a lot. That was also the issue.”
